Marketing is used in every segment of life, whether it is marketing oneself to find a job, running for an elected position, or to communicate a service that is offered to the community. Simple, yet effective marketing tool that is used regularly throughout First Nations is the “newsletter”. There are: websites, ads, brochures, booths at events and many more avenues that can be used to “tell people about your product or service”.

A Marketing plan and Business plan are the essential tools to complete before starting a business. Both are like a road map to ensure a successful journey. The definition of marketing is the action or business of promoting and selling products or services. Marketing is everything a company does to acquire customers and maintain a relationship with them. Even the small tasks like writing thank-you letters, playing golf with a prospective client, returning calls promptly and meeting with a past client for coffee can be thought of as marketing. The ultimate goal of marketing is to match a company’s products and services to the people who need and want them, thereby ensure profitability.
